Growing into our Giving
Do you know what life is like when there is “more month than money” and “more desire than digits?” Growing into our giving requires a desire to live a new way. Before that change can happen, a spiritual change of hearts occurs. It is through God’s grace that this change begins to take hold and we can see giving as a sign of new faith. At this point in life giving is viewed as a great gift for both the giver and the recipient.
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. Malachi 3: 10 NRSV
A stingy planter gets a stingy crop; a lavish planter gets a lavish crop. I want each of you to take plenty of time to think it over, and make up your own mind what you will give. That will protect you against sob stories and arm-twisting. God loves it when the giver delights in the giving. God can pour on the blessings in astonishing ways so that you’re ready for anything and everything, more than just ready to do what needs to be done. 2 Cor. 9: 6-8 The Message
