Eleanor Colvin

Rev. Eleanor Colvin

Eleanor Colvin is a fourth-generation Methodist, who is humbled to have been called by God to serve God’s people. Prior to being appointed as the pastor of First UMC in College Station, she most recently served St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Houston as the Associate Pastor of Community and Global Ministries. She was ordained an Elder in the Texas Annual Conference in May 2016.

A native of Houston, Rev. Colvin is not a stranger to Bryan-College Station. She earned a bachelor’s in Journalism from Texas A&M University and later went on to earn a Master’s of Fine Arts in Theatre from the University of Houston and a Master’s of Divinity degree from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.

The collective exploration of all these disciplines has allowed her to devote her life to telling stories that change the lives of people – all while engaging her passions: faith and the arts. For example, while serving as Director of Communications for the Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church (2005-2011), she was also teaching writing classes for people recently released from prison and for those in recovery at a transitional living home and serving on the worship arts ministry of her home church of St. Mark’s UMC. She believes in intersectional ministry that allows God to use the diverse gifts of God’s people within the church and, most importantly, beyond the walls of the church.

Eleanor looks forward to a lifetime of ministry that mobilizes the church to connect with people and communities through service and strong relationships, because she believes worship is a lifestyle, not an event. She’s also passionate about utilizing the arts to help people explore and deepen their relationships with God and neighbor.

Eleanor hopes to see you at First UMC soon and would love to be your pastor.
